Nice regurgitated thoughts from this article:

"ARM is a British firm that has found the industry sweet spot - and therefore has a license to print money,". "Rather than manufacture chips or micro-controllers, the company licenses its technology to hardware firms. To date, it has 600 licenses with more than 200 companies. Besides smartphones, ARM's products are in mobile-payment systems, auto infotainment centers and digital TVs. Trading at $38, ARM recently grew earnings by 31% and has about $500 million in net cash and no debt. It's very expensive on a Price/Earnings (P/E) ratio basis but it avoids all the overhead that comes with manufacturing."

I think ARMH is very expensive so the risk is high but they sure got lots of good patents and sure got great tech. Could be a good small bet to get small piece cuz its got very high PE but again they have great stuff and maybe Intel or IBM could want a piec cuz their low power chips are great for smartphones, tablets and anything that works on batteries see. But high risk cuz of high PE.

Upgrade - ARM Holdings ARMH The Benchmark Company Hold » Buy $35

Upgraded from Hold to Buy
ARMH: ARMH: Upgrading to "Buy"
Given the recent pullback in ARM shares, we are raising our rating from Hold to Buy, with a price target of $35.00. Our bullish thesis centers on the long-term growth prospects for the very profitable Process Division (ARM PD) royalties, which made up 46% of 1H11 total revenue.

Delivering High-Performance, Multicore Applications & Efficient Software: ARM Launches Next Generation System Solution for De...
Date : 05/03/2011 @ 8:22AM
Source : Business Wire
Stock : ARM (ARMH)
Quote : 29.12 -2.48 (-7.85%) @ 7:58PM

Today : Tuesday 3 May 2011

ARM today announced the launch of the ARM CoreSight SoC-400, a highly configurable debug and trace solution for complex SoC designs. As multicore products become increasingly common-place, ARM CoreSight SoC-400 provides a system solution to deliver high performance in applications that include mobile phones, tablets, home, wireless infrastructure, networking and gaming. To achieve optimal performance, software developers demand increased visibility within SoC designs. The launch of CoreSight SoC-400 addresses this requirement by providing a powerful, modular debug and trace infrastructure, and tool chain. CoreSight SoC-400 also delivers greater productivity for SoC designers and reduced time to market for new products.

โ€œThe demand for complex applications development on multicore SoCs, such as TIโ€™s OMAPโ„ข4 platform, continues to increase. ARM's CoreSight can provide advanced debug and trace solutions to aid developers on these platforms," said Stephen Lau, product manager, debug technology, wireless business unit, TI.

CoreSight SoC-400 is based on the ARM CoreSight debug and trace architecture already in use by major silicon suppliers for hardware and software design and optimization. The flexible, modular architecture supports ARM and other industry IP, and is well known in the industry as an established standard with comprehensive tools support.

The introduction of CoreSight SoC-400 extends the CoreSight architecture from existing debug and trace design kits for specific IP, such as ARM Cortex-A9 and ARM Cortex-R4 processors, into a system level solution that provides configurable components and buses which are modular and completely scalable. CoreSight SoC-400 also reduces the time required to deploy debug and trace infrastructure by incorporating the CoreLinkโ„ข AMBA Designer tool and packaging IP to deploy more easily. This improves productivity for hardware developers and reduces time to market for new products.

โ€œUntil recently debug and trace solutions have been an afterthought in the SoC design process, as basic functionality was acceptable in less demanding applications,โ€ said Mike Dimelow, Marketing Director, Processor Division, ARM. โ€œHowever, as multicore applications are more common-place, debug and trace solutions become critical to SoC designers and software developers. CoreSight SoC-400 is already providing improved productivity for all parties involved in the design process.โ€

About CoreSight SoC-400

CoreSight SoC-400 is a comprehensive set of configurable debug & trace components complete with the design tools needed to automate IP stitching and testing. Features of the new solution include complete automated system stitching and test benches and enhanced AMBA® AXIโ„ข Access Port (AXI-AP) functionality, supporting 64 bit address space across the AXI bus. Local and global time stamping is also possible. All components of the CoreSight SoC-400 are supplied with IPXACT descriptors for use with AMBA Designer. For further details on the new features and capabilities of the ARM CoreSight SoC-400 go to http://www.arm.com/products/system-ip/coresight-soc.php

Availability

The ARM CoreSight SoC-400 is licensing to lead partners now, and software support is available in ARM DS-5 tools this month. Initially the ARM CoreSight SoC-400 is available for the ARM Cortex-A15, and then later in 2011 for the entire ARM Cortex processor family.

NI Technology Updates Outlooks for Microsoft, Nokia, Intel, ARM Holdings, and MIPS Technology
Arm Holdings, Plc ADS Each Representing 3 Ordinary Shares (MM) (NASDAQ:ARMH)

Today : Friday 15 April 2011

Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com), an online investment newsletter focused on semiconductor and technology stocks, has updated outlooks for Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT), Nokia (NYSE: NOK), Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), ARM Holdings (Nasdaq: ARMH), and MIPS Technology (Nasdaq: MIPS).

Next Inning editor Paul McWilliams has leveraged a decades-long career as a semiconductor industry insider to deliver in-depth insights and winning stock selections for his newsletter subscribers. McWilliams' Next Inning model portfolio is approaching the "five-bagger" level, returning nearly 340% since its inception in 2002, and he has been picking more potential big winners for 2011.

Steven Halpern, the editor of The Stock Advisors report, which tracks 75 subscription newsletters and publishes the AOL Top Picks Report, had this to say about McWilliams:

"I have followed the financial newsletter industry for 28 years, reading hundreds of financial advisors. Without doubt, Paul McWilliams offers among the most in-depth, highest quality and well-reasoned research available in the marketplace. I've rarely ever seen an advisor who is as knowledgeable -- and accurate -- regarding the sectors and stocks that they follow."

Trial subscribers will also receive McWilliams' highly acclaimed State of Tech series, offering in-depth, sector-by-sector coverage of over 65 leading tech companies. The full set of State of Tech reports will be published ahead of earnings season, offering specific guidance on which stocks he thinks investors should own and which should be avoided.

To take advantage of this offer and receive these reports for free, please visit the following link:

https://www.nextinning.com/subscribe/index.php?refer=prn1201

McWilliams covers these topics and more in his recent reports:

-- What is Wall Street getting wrong about the Intel story? We've all read the headline news about Intel, but to get the real inside story about what Intel is doing you need to get it from an industry insider. In his special Intel State of Tech report McWilliams explains in clear layman's terms where Intel, ARM Holdings, and MIPS will fit in with the rapidly evolving smartphone and tablet markets and how cloud computing will impact personal computing. In addition to these unique perspectives on Intel, ARM, and MIPS, you will also see the details behind McWilliams' fair value model for Intel as well as his predictions for both Intel's Q1 performance and Q2 guidance. Industry experts rank this as an eye-opening and must-read report for semiconductor investors.

-- What does McWilliams mean when he writes, "Intel is coming at the smartphone sector from the polar opposite direction of ARM Holdings." When looking at mobile markets, where are Intel and MIPS still playing catch up to ARM, and where are they making inroads against ARM's "first mover" advantages?

-- Does McWilliams have bullish view of Microsoft based on Windows 7, Kinect, and its mobile strategy? Might an investment in Nokia be a better way to profit from Microsoft's mobile strategy than investing in Microsoft itself? Is Nokia a turnaround story in the making?

Founded in September 2002, Next Inning's model portfolio has returned 336% since its inception versus 45% for the S&P 500.

About Next Inning:

Next Inning is a subscription-based investment newsletter that provides regular coverage on more than 150 technology and semiconductor stocks. Subscribers receive intra-day analysis, commentary and recommendations, as well as access to monthly semiconductor sales analysis, regular Special Reports, and the Next Inning model portfolio. Is ARM Holdings the Perfect Stock?

http://www.fool.com/investing/high-growth/2011/04/07/is-arm-holdings-the-perfect-stock.aspx

Dan Caplinger
April 7, 2011

Every investor would love to stumble upon the perfect stock. But will you ever really find a stock that provides everything you could possibly want?

One thing's for sure: You'll never discover truly great investments unless you actively look for them. Let's discuss the ideal qualities of a perfect stock, then decide if ARM Holdings (Nasdaq: ARMH ) fits the bill.

The quest for perfection
Stocks that look great based on one factor may prove horrible elsewhere, making due diligence a crucial part of your investing research. The best stocks excel in many different areas, including these important factors:

* Growth. Expanding businesses show healthy revenue growth. While past growth is no guarantee that revenue will keep rising, it's certainly a better sign than a stagnant top line.
* Margins. Higher sales mean nothing if a company can't produce profits from them. Strong margins ensure that company can turn revenue into profit.
* Balance sheet. At debt-laden companies, banks and bondholders compete with shareholders for management's attention. Companies with strong balance sheets don't have to worry about the distraction of debt.
* Money-making opportunities. Return on equity helps measure how well a company is finding opportunities to turn its resources into profitable business endeavors.
* Valuation. You can't afford to pay too much for even the best companies. By using normalized figures, you can see how a stock's simple earnings multiple fits into a longer-term context.
* Dividends. For tangible proof of profits, a check to shareholders every three months can't be beat. Companies with solid dividends and strong commitments to increasing payouts treat shareholders well.

With those factors in mind, let's take a closer look at ARM Holdings.

Factor

ARM Holdings scores a very respectable score of six. Its future, however, could become a lot brighter as the company makes big waves in a business dominated by some of the world's largest companies.

For years, two players have dominated the PC industry: Microsoft with its operating system software, and Intel (Nasdaq: INTC ) with its processors. With their chokehold over the computers that most people used, those two companies made life hard for also-rans such as Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD ) , which was relegated to making processors that piggybacked off Intel's instruction set, and other companies were unable to crack the processor market.

But recently, Microsoft announced that it's building a version of Windows that runs on platforms used by ARM Holdings' processors. As a result, ARM Holdings is challenging Intel not just for mobile devices but also in Intel's core PC market.

Meanwhile, the company has made serio us inroads in the booming mobile industry. ARM has made licensing deals with Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM ) to pair up on chipsets for low-cost smartphones for the global market, as well as seeking a place in higher-end devices from Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL ) and licensing deals to a group of major chip companies that includes stalwarts such as Texas Instruments (NYSE: TXN ) . Moreover, it has a vital partnership with IBM (NYSE: IBM ) helping ARM keep up with the latest technological innovations.

At more than 100 times normalized earnings, ARM isn't cheap. But if the company can stay on its current growth path, its financial performance could easily justify its current valuation. If you're willing to make a speculative play, ARM Holdings may be the perfect stock to do it with.

ARMS at top of megaphone pattern. Would like to see that top become support. Wonder if INTC can get it there tomorrow. Might have to take some off the table here. What's your thoughts? Should I wait until after INTC reports?

Intel and Nvidea going at each other pretty hard. Read yesterday that Intel's new line of chips had a graphics processor built into it. Today you send me a link that says Nvidea is building it's chips w/central processors. Could it be time for new leadership in this sector?

Great for them as evidenced by their nice activity in SP and volume. Was forced b/w them and ARMH. Went the latter route.

What amazes me is that there isn't a message board for Atheros on I-HUB. I think a lot of these moves today are sympathy plays for QCOM buying Atheros.
