MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Alleanza Assicurazioni SpA said its net profit
in the first quarter was 102.7 million euros, in line with the 101.9 million
euros posted a year earlier.
Net premiums in the period fell to 1.133 billion euros from 1.722 billion
euros a year earlier.
Total revenues in the first three months were 1.19 billion euros compared to
2.34 billion euros the previous year.
New business production grew 16.5 percent to 86 million euros, Alleanza
said.
The new business production of Alleanza's "core" -- excluding the group's
Intesa Vita business which fell on the year -- grew 26.2 percent to 83.3 million
euros.
Intesa Vita is a bancassurance joint venture between Alleanza and Intesa
Sanpaolo SpA.
