MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Eni SpA and Fondiaria-SAI SpA have declined to
comment on reports they are interested in bidding for Italian airline Alitalia
SpA, which is in takeover talks with Air France-KLM.
It comes after Daily La Stampa reported centre-right coalition leader Silvio
Berlusconi said Eni is among those interested in supporting an Italian
consortium to bid for Alitalia.
He said the Benetton family, Mediobanca SpA and the Ligresti family, which
owns Fondiaria, are interested in supporting the Italian consortium.
Mediobanca and the Benetton family were not immediately available to
comment.
