NAIROBI (Thomson Financial) - Telkom Kenya, which is 51 pct owned by France
Telecom SA., has awarded a $145 mln contract to Swedish telecom infrastructure
group LM Ericsson for equipment for its mobile phone roll-out, an official said
Thursday.
The GSM network roll-out, set to start in October, is expected to cost 19

The Kenyan government holds the remaining 49 pct of Telkom Kenya.
Telkom Kenya will become the fourth mobile phone services provider in Kenya.
Others are Safaricom, a joint venture between British mobile phone giant
Vodafone, Celtel, operated by Dutch group Celtel International and a Kenyan
partner, Sameer Group, and South Africa's Econet Wireless Group.
