MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Salvatore Ligresti, the Italian businessman that
controls insurer Fondiaria-SAI SpA, said he could be involved in some form in
the creation of an Italian consortium to rescue Alitalia SpA.
"I think there could be ways of getting involved," Ligresti said, speaking
on the sidelines of the Fondiaria-SAI shareholders meeting.
Ligresti did not specify in what role or how he could be involved.
Asked about the Italian consortium the Italian government is trying to put
together, Ligresti said "things need to be done silently. Will they be done? I
think they will be."
