Who wrote that fool speech? John Kerry could not have hoped for more?

Cheney warns of terror in Democrat win

Des Moines, IA, Sep. 8

Republican U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney warns of a terror attack on the United States if the Democrats win November's election.

"It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice," Cheney told a crowd of 350 people in Des Moines, "because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States."

Sen. John Edwards, the Democratic candidate for vice president, lashed back in Ohio, saying Cheney's remarks showed the desperation in the Republican campaign, and called it "un-American."

Anne Womack, a spokeswoman for Cheney, told the New York Times the vice president's comment was taken out of context, and that he was addressing policy differences.

Cheney said the nation under a Kerry presidency could "fall back into a pre-9/11 mind-set," which he described as viewing terrorist attacks as "just criminal acts."
