Air Liquide SA said Thursday that 2022 net profit and sales increased, boosted by growth in all its activities.

Net profit for the year was 2.76 billion euros ($2.95 billion) compared with EUR2.57 billion in 2021, the industrial-gases company said.

Group revenue came to EUR29.93 billion, up 7% from the previous year, with the increase in sales mainly driven by the industrial merchant and the electronics segments. All geographies within its gas and services business posted growth, in particular the Americas and Asia Pacific, it said.

Net profit was below expectations of EUR2.93 billion, while revenue slightly missed views of EUR29.97 billion, according to analysts' estimates provided by the company.

"In 2022, the group delivered a strong performance despite a complex and changing geopolitical, economic and sanitary context," Chief Executive Francois Jackow said.

For 2023, the Paris-based company said it is confident in its ability to further increase its operating margin and to deliver recurring net profit growth at constant rates.

Air Liquide proposed a dividend of EUR2.95 a share for its shareholders' meeting in May.
