FTSE 100 Poised to Fall After Mixed Asia Trading
0641 GMT - The FTSE 100 Index looks set to open 62 points lower
at 6831, according to IG futures data, after mixed Asia trading and
a lower close on Wall Street on Friday. Markets in Australia and
Hong Kong drop, though Japanese stocks rise. The Dow closed Friday
1.7% down. "Today, we will get the final September manufacturing
PMIs," Danske Bank analyst Jens Peter Sorensen writes. "Indices are
broadly expected to stay below the 50 level, reflecting a slowdown
in global manufacturing activity. Otherwise, markets will continue
to keep a close eye on the quickly-evolving European security
landscape and on EU leaders as they push for an eighth batch of
sanctions against Russia," he says. (philip.waller@wsj.com)
