US Futures, European Stocks Rise as Bank Concerns Ease

In the U.S., futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and
futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3%. Changes in
futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening
bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.4% in morning trading.
Softcat added 6.2% and Orron Energy rose 4.3%. On the other hand,
Aroundtown slipped 9.4%, and Schibsted dropped 9.1%. The FTSE 100
added 0.5%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40
gained 0.5% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.4%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.1% to 96.24.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.4% to $78.10 a barrel, and
WTI crude rose 0.7% to $73.31 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 7.4 basis points to 2.304%
from 2.23%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by
2.5 basis points to 3.562% from 3.537%. Bond prices and yields move
in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index grew 0.2%,
whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 1.1%. China's benchmark
Shanghai Composite declined 0.2%.
