MARKET TALK:
Ocado Retail's 1Q Revenue Seen as Encouraging as Competition
Increases
0830 GMT - Ocado Retail's 1Q numbers are encouraging as
competition for grocery market share in the U.K. intensifies, CMC
Markets chief market analyst Michael Hewson says in a note. The
online grocer retailer showed positive progress for 1Q, with a
revenue rise of 3.4% to GBP584 million, he says. However, customers
are spending more money and getting less, he adds. This trend,
associated with record food price inflation and footfall increase,
shows that customers are shopping around a lot more in order to
secure the lowest price. Shares fall 0.5% after rising by 5% in
early trading Tuesday. (michael.susin@wsj.com)
