Meta Platforms Inc. said Susan J.S. Taylor is resigning as chief accounting officer of the Facebook parent company for personal reasons.

Meta said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that Ms. Taylor's departure, which will come after a transition period, isn't a result of any disagreement relating to the Menlo Park, Calif., company's operations, policies or practices.

The move by Ms. Taylor, who joined Meta as chief accounting officer in April 2017, comes after the social-media giant reported improving conditions in its underlying business and that it would buy back another $40 billion in stock, sending its shares up nearly 20% in premarket trading Thursday.
