--French telecommunications company Iliad offered more than 11 billion euros ($12.56 billion) to acquire the Italian operations of U.K. rival Vodafone Group PLC, the FT reports citing people familiar with the matter.

--Iliad secured financing from a large European bank and received the backing of an unnamed investment fund to help finance the deal, the FT reports.
