Vodafone Group PLC said Tuesday that Hannes Ametsreiter will step down from his role as chief executive of Vodafone Germany, effective June 30, to pursue new career opportunities.

The telecoms company said Philippe Rogge will become the new CEO of Vodafone Germany, effective July 1.

"I'm delighted to welcome Philippe as CEO of Vodafone Germany and to the group executive committee. He has a proven track record of commercial, operational and financial success over the last decade delivering through a growth strategy across Europe, at one of the world's leading technology companies," said Vodafone CEO Nick Read said.

Vodafone shares at 1211 GMT were down 0.48 pence, or 0.4%, at 131.66 pence.
