My read..
Overall market was down today as well as the stock receiving a downgrade from Buy to Hold. Who knows what the motivation for that was.
MM's may well be taking down before next leg up.
Lot of traders in this now and they are nimble to bail, esp on a Fri.
Low float that moves sharply- today down.

Autobytel Inc. Since Autobytel's Quarterly Earnings Report 11 trading days ago, the share price has retreated 26%.This is offering investors and traders a great entry and ought not be missed, in my opinion- here are a baker's dozen reasons why:

1. The Shelf Registration filed on February 27th is for continued acquisitions not for operating expenses- the company throws off cash every quarter. Acquisitions have been accretive to share price value, not dilutive. CEO Jeffrey H. Coats stated in the February 20th conference call the company intends to continue acquiring synergistic companies as ABTL solidifies its leading status in a consolidating industry.

2. The miss of .02 in Q4 was largely due to the rising share price which triggered warrants and convertible notes adding 23% to the OS, diluting Earnings.

3. The 20 EMA was tested twice last week and held. The share price appears to be at support- always the choice entry.

4. Volume has dropped below the 10 day average volume indicating selling is largely over.

5. When the RSI has been riding 80 for six months, the share price looks for a reason to reset. The misconstrued Earnings report and Registration intent provided that.

6. RSI is now 37.82 on the 6 month daily chart- oversold, offering plenty of room for appreciation.

7. The technology index, which ABTL is part of has been strong of late with the exception of the most recent period. A breather is not a bad thing following a parabolic move up.

8. Short interest is a mere 1.13%- few wish to stand in front of the ABTL juggernaut.

9. ABTL has over 50% institutional, mutual fund and inside ownership- a real sign of confidence in a microcap stock.

10. A large ABTL stakeholder is John Bogle Jr., son of stock market legend Jack Bogle. John is no silver spoon son. His hedge fund has returned 12.4% over its 14 year existence, far outperforming the 8.6% gain of its benchmark index, the Russell 2000 over the same period.

11. I/B/E/S ABTL EPS forecast for 2014 is .62 versus .36 for 2013- a 72% increase in net earnings!

12. As of 12/31/13, ABTL had federal and state NOLs (carry forward losses) of $100.9 million and 66.1 million, respectively- a huge boost to future net earnings.

13. The auto industry is anticipating another great year in 2014. Analyst's estimates reach as high as 16.5 million vehicles. 2013 was 15.6 million. ABTL not only rides the industry's coattail, it outperforms the industry. This said CEO Coats, "our 17% revenue growth for the full year (2013) readily eclipsed the approximate 9% growth in retail auto sales in the last year and we expect our growth to outpace the market for U.S. auto retail sales for the foreseeable future".

There is little bad to say about this company except perhaps some grousing over the CEO's near million dollar compensation- rather steep for a microcap company. I don't begrudge the CEO as he works like a Trojan and has performed admirably.

I like ABTL as an investment as well as a trade. It is one of the better opportunities I have seen in a while.

A cautionary note: The markets are hitting all time highs. There has been a rotation into defensive stocks. Consider buying 1/2 the shares you may wish to of any stock as a defensive measure.

Use of any of the various stop loss mechanisms is recommended. With limited volume and a small float, ABTL share price moves sharply.

Roth increased target price to 6.5 from 5 today.

It looks to me like the prospect of hitting 43 cents per share next year is helping this stock out...at least, on the short-term. Currently up 24 cents.

I'm not sure how you figured that this writer has a big following, but Seeking Alpha's own information shows that he only has a total of 98 readers interested in ABTL. That's next to nothing when it comes to buying and selling stock.

Seeking Alpha gives a decent review of ABTL. Unfortunately, they did it on Sunday when very few people bother reading these articles.

It looks like the sellers are pure amateurs. They're selling at market and getting hit for 15 to 25 cents less than they're asking. Always put limits on your buys and sells.

Incidentally, funds are doing some selling for whatever their reasons.

I don't see that the earnings were anything but terrible. At four cents per share, that comes out .8 cents per share presplit. Horrible. It was supposed to come out about five cents per share presplit. At this rate, they'll only come out about 4 cents per share presplit for the year. That's ridiculous.

I did see, however, that Jeff gave bonuses as soon as they got shareholder approval to hand out many thousands of dollars to employees. Nice move, something the shareholders will never get.

Cash on hand...well, Jeff sure handled that well. He doesn't know what to do with the cash, but one thing for sure...shareholders aren't getting any of it back as a dividend. Jeff's probably going to pay some hyper-inflated price to one of his friends for some garbage with the cash.

Now, something critical that's worthy of SEC action. It seems that when I voted my shares the way I did, somehow the votes were changed....in favor of ABTL requests of course. I don't know who or how my voting was changed, but that's a serious issue worthy of some follow-up. I'm doing that now, and if it turns out that there's something illegal going on, ABTL's going to be in very big trouble.

The only thing Jeff did on the positive side was to give some guidance for the coming year. Right now, I don't see that doing that is going to over-ride the crap that's coming out of this company.

Atrop didn't take a position in ABTL. What ATROP got was payment for Autropolis (and whatever) when ABTL bought them out. They would have received 2 million shares of ABTL (presplit), but that was adjusted to 400,000 shares post split (plus some options to purchase additional shares.
The big question is "what will they do with those shares when they're eligible to sell those shares on the open market in September.

This a$$hole management won't even give us back a small portion of the money that belongs to us, but they'll hand it out to each other like it's for free. Of course, for them it is free money, just reach in and grab a big hand-full. Shareholders are totally stupid and don't care if you take their money. I see that ABTL's handing out bonuses like crazy. 5,000 shares a piece to about 5 personnel so far today. What do the shareholders get?...they get the bill for these bonuses. We keep them supplied with stock that they can just give to each other. I think it's just beginning. They want to hand out more bonuses and crank up the pay scale too.
If these asses paid half as much attention to the shareholder as they did to each other, the company would be showing at least twice the bottom line profit as they are now.

Autobytel's general meeting didn't turn out quite the way they wanted. Now they're calling for a definitive vote on prop 3. They did a half-assed job of notifying shareholders and the voting is all screwed up because the notification doesn't allow shareholders to access their voting forms.

Just been strong for awhile now in the 4.70s range. Bodes well to break past 5 in the near future.

Considering that the market dropped 353 points, ABTL did very well today.....just breaking even. Let's see if today's general meeting will provide some incentive for management to make some good moves.
