OVERSOLD
Stock traded down based on secret tapes from 2014 and particularly harsh coverage. They even worked a reference to Bernie in there.
In said tapes, one or two people may have used magical accounting to move $200 million loss to an off-shore affiliate.
This company has a market cap of 2.4 BILLION dollars, a strong dividend, and an entirely new board coming in. Whoever they were, whatever they did, they're gone, and the company is pressing on. It hit the high 13s on negative emotion, nothing more.
Look at the most recent 10k. Solid, stable investments. Strong fundamentals. Time for a value buy, GL HF.

Here is what IBD had to say today about AFSI:
Amtrust Financial Services (AFSI) sank 1.53 to 16.23, falling below its 50-day moving average for the first time. The stock is 25% off its July 9 intraday high. Analysts expect the property and casualty insurer to grow second-quarter profit 56%, which would be the slowest growth of the past seven quarters.

It makes me wonder if they will keep it in the IBD 100 or not. A lot of people read IBD, so if they do drop it out, the stock will likely go down Monday.

It has great numbers and was recently the No. 1-ranked stock in the IBD 100, and there doesn't appear to be any company-specific news driving the selloff. I've nibbled a little bit, but the stock has yet...
Something really caused this stock to go down big today. I realize the market is down in general, but not 10%. That is quite a haircut. I am curious to see if IBD will drop AFSI out of the IBD 100 this coming week. It would be just like them --- they don't want to hang onto stocks that are bringing the overall performance of the portfolio down. Look at how long it took them to get rid of ROCM when it tanked. ASFI broke below the 50 DMA today, which isn't a good sign. If IBD does drop AFSI out, I look for this to go down more on Monday. Hope I am wrong, but I exited this morning... the risk/reward factor just didn't look good going into the weekend. I hope I am wrong for all the longs out there, good luck to all.
