Hi GTG, Re: GNSS................

There's been some talk of a slow quarter in computers and other devices with flat screens. Seems to me there was inventory issues with their customers which will affect GNSS's book to bill ratio.

To me it looks like the time to start buying from the scared so we can later on sell to the greedy!

I believe my next order date is in about a week. We'll see where the price is then and maybe build out the inventory a bit.

Summer doldrums.

GNSS seems to be at low ebb,
as in '03 and '04;
looking to higher prices
by year-end.

Tom, commentary on current fundamentals would be of interest.
Or even you view on the technical side.

Haven't owned in a long time.
Looking tempting at these levels.
But crushed by recent market declines.

Hi Peter, Ownership of GNSS shares........
I believe I made two buys this time on the dip. I have cash to buy much deeper since several of the last cycles went into the low 'teens before recovering. But if these recent purchases do trigger a couple of profitable sales, I won't mind.

I checked my trade, and you only beat me by 3 cents. It is back up and looking like it wants to clime. It should bounce off the low to mid 19's and dive into the 18 and change at least once more before staying over 20 for a while. I am hoping to accumulate some more since I only own 3/8 of my fully invested shares.

HI Peter, Re: 12%............
I added about 12% more to inventory at $18.57 yesterday as a GTC order filled. That lowered my "next sell" price to around $25+.

There's still plenty of cash in reserve for further downward averaging if we need to do a bit more buying.

It is not a thing about the penalty box. Everyone wants my money. Few receive it. As I think I said, this is the only subject on any stock in my trading portfolio. I did not check tax favored or accumulation portfolios. Those I don't mess with much.

GNSS has been good to me. When a small analysis firm upgraded them to buy, a little research made it look attractive. So I bought a large chunk. I actually invested a full share under the Buffet theory of hold 8 stocks. When it popped a couple bucks I sold half. It never traded low enough to make me want to buy back in. I sold more and will play around this level. If it falls down there are some taken profits. If it goes up, there is some to sell.

You will have to explain the technical analysis par of that. It has been too long since school. I look at financials and for my gambling watch charts.

I have been in and out of eBay a few ties, every time for a nice profit of late. I just bought back in today. It was probably only off 15%, but I think it has some nice upside potential.

BTW - They let me out of the small penalty box, I now have 15 posts per day. At that rate, I'll never catch Zeev.

Hi Peter, Don't feel you need to use up all your "free" posts in answering. Sorry about the Penalty Box status. I still go back to SI once in a while, but pretty much stick around here. If you click on the "HOT!" heading here you'll get a list of the busiest topics on IHub. Our AIM bb is usually listed in the top 100 boards and is very stable and one of the most polite places in cyberspace.

You'll notice that there are a lot of over-the-counter bulletinboard stocks listed in that 100 most read. Then a lot of market direction chat threads. I don't spend much time there as there's a lot of potatoes and not much meat. Even large cap "name" stocks don't get much activity here. SI used to be great, but I don't know where all those stock investors went after 2002.

GNSS has been a holding of mine for maybe 4 or 5 years now. It's doing well by me, too. I've been trading around a core holding for most of the time I've owned it. I, too, follow accumulation/distribution as a trend. It was pretty ugly for quite a while with GNSS, but the zigs and zags of the chart provided more than enough activity for me to trade profitably.

The AIM trading model usually uses a 30% reversal to trip a "sell" after a "buy." As you can see on the chart, there have been plenty and this is where I do my best work!

I find that my "selling" coincides nicely with W$R peaks above "20" and my "buying" is in sync with the value below "80" on this type of graph.

Best regards, Tom

Peter D Peter D 19 years ago
GNSS has been good to me.
Actually I sold a 1/4 of the half I had held past 18 near the low last week. Absent analytical data, I relied on the charts, and they looked to be preparing for a decision point. I was confident that it would come back up, but not so sure that I would let it burn me if I was wrong.

I sold some options last month and closed at a profit. I almost opened some calls Friday, it would be in the money today. Oh well. I have been lucky, but reacting to both anouncements and the graphs. I look at volume. The volume in June indicated accumulation. Since then upgrades have preceeded heavy volume up days. I don't think the gamblers are taking the sucker's bet yet. If it gets to 30, I will have to get back into the numbers if I have not already sold it.

Watch the volume and the price movement in the second half of September. If you se a couple up days on increased volume get into the market for a few days minimum.

I see what you mean about the forums here. Not a single of the 20 securities in my trading portfolio are represented by subjects on IHUB. On the other hand, SI is being dominated by rude posters these days.

Thanks for the regards. I am currently in the penalty box. Penalty box posters are allowed 3 posts per day. If I ever had an account here (before this week) is appears to be gone now.

Your fellow investor,

Peter

Hi Peter, It gets a bit lonely here on IHub on some of the stocks I hold. Not too many people seem to follow GNSS here. I put my graphs up when there's a trade in or out, but in general there's not been much enthusiasm. It does help to keep the AIM BB cluttered, however!

How's everything going with you? My GNSS holding is down from its peak, but I don't know just where it is on a percentage basis. Sounds like you've done a great job clearing inventory along the way.

There seems to be the beginning of some "sector rotation" in the market again. I welcome this overall. We had energy, then this summer, some tech and telecomm moves. Then, more recently there's been some gains in consumer areas. The rotations aren't huge, but they're at least showing themselves again. Hope it continues and strengthens.

Generally GNSS news has been pretty good. That's always welcome at this end!

Hi David, I didn't quite get to 100% invested this cycle, but we did make a substantial addition in the $11+ range. We're now seeing very handsome LIFO gains on those shares (a solid 37% gross on this sale).

Yes, when the price seemed to be dropping endlessly, it was pretty spooky. However, having a solid plan in place seems to quell the fears. Too bad I was not paying close enough attention when it bottomed. Still, we are doing well.

Break Below 10 will be troubling

10 is MAJOR support for this stock. If you are going to draw the line in the sand it would be just below 10 at like 9.4. If you have some desire to bottom fish 10 is where you place your bid according to my system.

The market's very jumpy right now and seems entirely unpredictable. Most people are expecting a big correction but the corrections that occur have been not as deep or as long as expected, I think probably because the money on the sidelines is using the opportunity to jump on the back of the bull market.

I play some stocks up many thousand percent in a year, real high flyers and when they swoon they've consistently come right back into making new highs. I keep thinking it will stop and I lighten up on them or sell out, watch for a while, and then jump back on them, usually buying back higher, for another ride.

GNSS is obviously not one of those stocks but it seems like the market direction and strength is as important as the fundamentals of the company right now. Actually, GNSS is still probably lagging its group so I'm wondering if it might get popular and go up quickly at some point.

Tom knows more about the fundies than I, so let's see what he has to say.

Any thoughts on price action for GNSS in the short-term?
Sorry I missed the $14+ exit point,
but wondering if there will be some settling of price.

Also, today gives pause as to whether we will have Oct swoon
in the markets generally (talking heads saying we will
be doing some backing and filling and digesting;
translation: transferring money from the stupid to the rich,
and admittedly I've been in the former camp too often).

Do you follow GNSS fundamentals? I like their product line and tech, they seem to be having design wins, yet I read annual report, and in this era of disclosure mandates, the report is packed with every risk and disclaimer I've ever seen.

I'm not exactly sure how to link the buys to the PC. What I generally do is keep the buy and sell quantity in lots of 100's, so that if I have 1000 shares or less, I'll sell 100 shares, and once I get to 2000 to 2999 shares I sell 200 shares, at 3000-3999 I sell 300 shares... etc. I used to double the buy amounts, just as you said.

You have a memory like an elephant. I'm not currently holding ADCT but if you keep crying about how badly it's doing I might buy some to keep you company. I always used to buy the ones you were selling, but now I try to remember not to do that, and to buy the ones you're BUYING.

Linda

Hi Linda, At the beginning of this year when I restarted my GNSS account it has just 700 shares in it. I'm now at 1000.

I do the same thing on lower priced shares; keep the min order size to at least $1000 to keep commission cost proportionally small. On several of my holdings I "sell" 100 shares at a time but "buy" 200. It helps to keep the discounts nice on the buys.

Since Portfolio Control (PC) increases each time we buy, it's nice to link our minimum order size to the PC so our order size keeps increasing as we buy.

There's been a bunch of news out on ADCT recently. I posted links at the ADCT thread:
http://www.investorshub.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=1045
(It's a quiet thread so far. Maybe these news items will get some activity going)

Best regards, Tom
πŸ‘οΈ0
ljk ljk 21 years ago
Once I get under 1000 shares I have trouble keeping the 10% sell quantity, because it doesn't feel right to trade less than 100 shares. I used to increase my BUYS to 200 shares to help boost the quantity and overcome that but I haven't done that with GNSS and I only have 700 shares right now. So I keep my sell quantity at 100 shares and just have to wait longer for a sell.

I probably will drop the SELL SAFE to 0% in a week or so if the stock doesn't resume its climb. When it seemed it was moving fast, and there was a possibility of a second sell quickly I wanted to go for the higher profit. But if it continues to consolidate here, I will drop the percentage back to 0% again to try to replenish the cash. :)

Too bad about ADCT, indeed. I still have plenty of stocks under water, or which might never recover, but at least most are moving well so on balance good progress is being made. And some of those still neglected might perk up as the bull expands its sights.

Linda
πŸ‘οΈ0
OldAIMGuy OldAIMGuy 21 years ago
Hi Linda, I've been using pretty much the same SAFE settings all along on GNSS. If we manage to get plenty of selling in and raise the Cash Reserve back to the Idiot Wave's suggested amounts, then I'll probably just pull "vealies" after that to keep the cash under control.

Between the high SAFE level on buying and reluctance to spend money any more often than every 4th week, I should be okay on the CASH side for now.

Note that I'm also using a minimum order size equal to 10% of the Portfolio Control value. This also helps to stage the orders out a bit and keeps me from burning up the cash too quickly.

Nice to have some recovery in this one. Now, if I can only get ADCT back into my TRADE range!

Best regards, Tom
