Bouygues said Tuesday that it had submitted a nonbinding offer to Engie to acquire its technical-services provider Equans.

The proposed acquisition forms part of the French construction and media conglomerate's strategy aimed at creating a major player in multitechnical services, the company said.

Chief Executive Olivier Roussat previously said in late August that Bouygues intended to make a bid for Equans.

Bouygues added that it won't require a capital increase to finance the acquisition.

The company will disclose more information to the market in due course if necessary, it said.
