Daimler AG's commercial-vehicle business expects the semiconductor shortage to continue affect production in the next year.

Daimler Truck Chief Executive Officer Martin Daum said at a meeting with journalists on Tuesday that the truck-and-bus maker expects to continue to produce and deliver fewer vehicles than it could have sold due to the supply-chain disruptions.

He said truck makers couldn't pass on higher costs to customers through increased prices like car makers can in some cases because the commercial vehicles are pre-sold in advance. However, prices for new orders are based on the current situation, and the CEO expects pricing to increase next year due to the chip shortage as well as higher raw-material prices, he said.
