Groupon Inc. said it named Kedar Deshpande as chief executive, effective Dec. 10.

Aaron Cooper, interim CEO, will step down from his role, the company said.

Mr. Deshpande spent the last 10 years at Zappos in roles of escalating responsibility, including his appointment to CEO.

Before Zappos, Mr. Deshpande was a Software Engineer for General Electric Co.

Groupon in March 2020 said that Rich Williams was no longer serving as CEO and named Mr. Cooper, then president of North America, as interim CEO.
