BRUSSELS--The U.S. and the European Union are near to a deal on resolving their 17-year trade fight over subsidies to Boeing Co. and Airbus SE, said officials.

European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen said Tuesday that she is "very positive" that an agreement will be announced today.
