MELBOURNE, Australia--Brambles Ltd. (BXB.AU) logged a modest rise in sales revenue in the first quarter of its financial year and cautioned Tuesday that the company's pallets, crates and containers business faces ongoing cost inflation.

Brambles said sales totaled US$1.42 billion in the three months through September, a rise of almost 3% on the same quarter last year, or about 6% on a constant-currency basis to strip out the strengthening of the dollar.

Given the cost pressure being felt across Brambles' major markets, the company said it expects its first-half underlying profit to be broadly in line against a year earlier but to improve on a constant-currency basis in the second half thanks in part to increased pricing.
