--Rio Tinto (RIO) is among the parties interested in making an offer to acquire a stake in Teck Resources Ltd.'s (TECK) Quebrada Blanca copper mine, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing "two sources close to the matter."

--Teck Resources said a partner could contribute $2 billion to the project, which would net it a 30% to 40% stake, the report said.

--Mitsubishi Corp. and Sumitomo Corp. are also said to be interested in the project, as are Aluminum Corp. of China and Lundin Mining Corp., the report said.
