Dutch chip-equipment maker ASML Holding NV (ASML.AE) said over the weekend that a U.S. judge issued its final verdict in a corporate espionage case against XTAL, awarding the company hundreds of millions in damages and an injunction.

ASML said the $845 million in damages won't be collectable, since XTAL is in bankruptcy, but it will receive most, if not all, of XTAL's intellectual property under a settlement agreement.

The Santa Clara County Superior Court also issued an injunction ordering XTAL "not to conduct any software development activities on its software products that ASML alleged are contaminated with ASML's IP," and allows ASML to contact XTAL's customers to inform them of the jury's verdict, the company said.

The judgment finalizes a November verdict in which the court found XTAL to have misappropriated ASML's confidential and proprietary information and trade secrets.
