Apple Inc. plans to reopen about 100 stores in the U.S. this
week, a company spokesman said Tuesday.
Stores will reopen in more than 20 states including Texas,
California, Florida and Ohio. While most stores will only offer
curbside or storefront services, the spokesman said, each store
will welcome customer appointments with its Genius Bar. At stores
that do fully open, Apple will require customers to wear face
coverings and agree to temperature checks, the spokesman said.
Customers who don't have face masks will be provided one, he
said.
Apple is among a number of companies with brick and mortar
stores that are reemerging as states throughout the U.S. start to
phase out lockdown orders from the coronavirus pandemic. Apple,
which in March closed all stores outside of China, began to reopen
some U.S. stores earlier this month. By the end of this week, the
company expects to have about 135 out of roughly 270 stores in the
U.S. open. It operates roughly 510 stores throughout the world.
