--Diageo PLC's Indian arm United Spirits Ltd. has halted whiskey sales in some states to push price hikes amid a standoff with state authorities over price caps, Bloomberg reports.

--The price caps have already cost the liquor maker almost $9 million in sales and could lead to a hefty loss of revenue across its portfolio, according to Bloomberg.

--As each state has its own alcohol prices, Diageo is lobbying for the inclusion of the nationally applied goods-and-service-tax and a mechanism to allow pricing to rise with inflation, United Spirits CEO Hina Nagarajan told Bloomberg in an interview. It is currently in talks with up to five states, she said.
