DETROIT, Dec. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. (AAM) today announced that Timothy E. Bowes has been appointed Senior Vice President – Corporate Planning. In this role, Mr. Bowes will support AAM's business development initiatives.

Bowes joins AAM from Transtar Corporation having served as CEO & President, a position he has held since 2013.  In this role, he was responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the company. Prior to assuming this position, Bowes was Executive Officer & President of Commercial Truck at Meritor Inc. where he was responsible for all OE activities in North America, South America and Europe.

Prior to joining Meritor in 2005, he held various leadership positions during his 25-year automotive and industrial career managing business operations, strategic opportunities and sales & marketing for multiple organizations.  In addition to Transtar and Meritor, Bowes' career also includes time spent at Hilite International, Wescast Industries, Intermet Corporation and ITT Automotive.

Bowes holds a bachelor of science degree in Industrial Management from Lawrence Technological University and a master's degree in business administration in International Business from Wayne State University.
