After nearly a century providing safe, reliable natural gas service to
Albertans, ATCO Gas announced today that it is now serving more than one million
customers. This historic milestone comes on the heels of one of the busiest
years on record for ATCO Gas, as nearly 32,000 Alberta homes and businesses
became new ATCO Gas customers in 2007.

The new landmark of one million customers was celebrated today at a special
event in Edmonton, with remarks from: the Honourable Dave Hancock, Alberta's
Minister of Health and Wellness; Nancy Southern, President and Chief Executive
Officer, ATCO Group; and Jerome Engler, President, ATCO Gas.

The one-millionth customer, Mike Carson, was presented with a natural gas BBQ
and gift basket from the ATCO Blue Flame Kitchen.

"This milestone in the ATCO Gas story is important, not only because it reflects
the tremendous growth and development that our province has seen over the years
- but because it gives us pause to express our gratitude to Albertans for
allowing the company to be such an essential and continuous presence in their
homes and businesses for so many years," said Ms. Southern.

"Supported by nearly a century of experience, our employees can be counted on 24
hours a day to ensure that every one of our one million-plus customers will
receive the safe, reliable service they have come to expect from ATCO Gas," she
added.

Alberta's rapid pace of development over the past few years has heightened the
need to be vigilant about safety, said Mr. Engler. In 2007, requests from
builders, contractors and homeowners to have ATCO Gas come out and locate the
natural gas pipelines on their property were at an all-time high, and ATCO Gas
had the second-highest volume of locate requests in the entire country.

"We have an excellent safety record because we focus on safety in everything we
do," said Mr. Engler. "Despite the phenomenal level of construction activity in
the province, our pipeline damage prevention program has been extremely
effective, and in 2007, ATCO Gas had the lowest number of third-party damages
per 1,000 locates in Canada. This accomplishment earned recognition from the
Canadian Gas Association for best practices in damage prevention."

ATCO Gas, a Canadian Utilities company, is part of ATCO Group and distributes
natural gas through a network of close to 36,500 kilometres of underground pipes
and service lines. The company operates 62 agency offices across Alberta and
serves more than one million customers in nearly 300 communities across the
province. ATCO Gas' distribution rate remains the lowest in Canada.
