Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta and ATCO today signed a Letter of Intent to
explore business opportunities while developing long-term, mutually beneficial
working relationships.

The Letter of Intent with ATCO is the first of its kind ever signed by the
Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta.

"Today sets the framework to work together to build sustainable economic growth
and explore mutually beneficial business opportunities," said Nancy Southern,
President and Chief Executive Officer, ATCO Group, who along with Grand Chief
Arthur Noskey, signed the Letter of Intent during a ceremony in Calgary,
Alberta. "All of our partnerships are built on the understanding of mutual
respect, trust, and transparency." More than a year in the making, the
partnership provides the criteria through which opportunities will be jointly
analyzed and acted upon.

"The partnership offers opportunity while respecting the interest of
participating First Nations, and recognizes and protects the cultures and
communities of Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta. We share the value of mutual
respect and trust with our new partners in pursuing a successful business and
entrepreneurial future for our people," said Grand Chief Noskey. "ATCO's First
Nation partnerships have been very successful, and we look forward to working
together for the long-term benefit of our people, our land, and our First
Nations."

The Honourable Gene Zwozdesky, Minister of Alberta Aboriginal Relations, noted
that strong, vibrant, Aboriginal communities are an important part of the
province's future. "Through programs like the First Nations Economic
Partnerships Initiative (FNEPI), we look forward to working together with Treaty
8 First Nations of Alberta and ATCO Group, to support First Nations full
participation in the social and economic life of Alberta."

Treaty 8 First Nations of Alberta is a representative organization of 23 First
Nations covering approximately half of Alberta with a Treaty relationship with
Canada, which confers Treaty Promise including the integrity of the usual
vocations of livelihood and Her Majesty's bounty and benevolence. There are
approximately 32,000 people within the Treaty 8 First Nations in Alberta.

ATCO has formed a number of alliances with First Nation communities,
specifically ATCO Electric who interfaces in Northeastern Alberta on land use
and business opportunities which have led to capacity building and long term
benefits to communities. ATCO Frontec has two joint venture projects with the
Fort McKay First Nations north of Fort McMurray - the recently opened Creeburn
Lake Lodge and a new workforce camp scheduled to house more than 1,000 workers
for Suncor oil sands expansion.

ATCO Group is an Alberta-based, worldwide organization of companies with
approximately $8.2 billion in assets and more than 7,800 people actively engaged
in Power Generation, Utilities (natural gas and electricity transmission and
distribution) and Global Enterprises (industrial manufacturing, technology,
logistics and energy services).
