ATCO is pleased to announce the winners of its Celebrating Excellence Program - 249 girls and boys from across Alberta who are demonstrating excellence in each of their communities.

"From the thousands of entries we received, it is clear many young Albertans are making a difference in their communities," said Nancy Southern, President and CEO, ATCO Group. "We want to recognize these students for the positive things they are doing."

Students in Grades 4 through 12 were invited to submit short compositions explaining what they are doing to pursue excellence in their lives or how they are demonstrating a commitment to community. One boy and one girl from every constituency in Alberta (166 in total) were drawn randomly from thousands of entries. All 166, along with a parent or guardian, are now being rewarded with a trip to Vancouver while 83 runners-up are receiving laptop computers. A collection of student submissions can be viewed online at www.atco.com.

"It's inspiring to see so many young Albertans striving to better themselves and the people around them," said Cindy Ady, Minister of Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation. "I hope these young people will continue their great work in creating a better Alberta."

As partners in ATCO's Celebrating Excellence program, the Government of Alberta and WinSport Canada are providing the winners with tickets to Olympic sport and celebration events as well as a visit to Alberta House in downtown Vancouver.
