SEATTLE, July 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alaska Airlines announced
today it is entering into a strategic partnership with regional air
group Frontier Alaska that will allow Frontier customers to earn
and redeem miles in Alaska Airlines' Mileage Plan and to book
through-travel on Alaska Airlines in select markets, starting this
fall. "We're excited to be exploring the possibilities of working
with Frontier Alaska as a new airline partner in the state of
Alaska," said Rick Rasmussen, Alaska Airlines' director of customer
loyalty and marketing programs. "Once we bring Frontier Alaska on
as a partner, frequent fliers in the state of Alaska will enjoy
easier connections on the two carriers as well as even more
opportunities to earn and redeem miles in the Alaska Airlines
Mileage Plan." Frontier Alaska operates an extensive year-round
commuter and postal service operation from Fairbanks and Anchorage
to the state's bush communities. Formed by the recent combination
of Hageland Aviation Services and Frontier Flying Service, Frontier
Alaska is the state's largest regional transportation network, with
service to 92 communities. "Frontier has a great service reputation
and its routes complement Alaska Airlines' existing passenger and
cargo service within the state," said Bill MacKay, Alaska Airlines'
vice president for the state of Alaska. "The reason we formed this
network of service throughout the state was to provide seamless
service for our customers from their homes to our larger hubs and
on to the Lower 48," said Bob Hajdukovich, president of Frontier.
"Alaska Airlines provides the final link and perfect synergy to our
services. And the Alaska Mileage Plan will make every penny count
-- whether customers are traveling locally or vacationing to
Hawaii." Alaska Airlines' Mileage Plan was recently named "Program
of the Year" at InsideFlyer magazine's 20th annual Freddie Awards,
the most prestigious consumer-generated honors in the travel
industry. Mileage Plan members earn and redeem mileage on more than
a dozen airlines, including more major U.S. airlines than any other
frequent flier program. Mileage Plan offers additional
opportunities to earn miles through an extensive network of
partners, including the Alaska Airlines Visa credit and debit
cards, Mileage Plan Shopping, Mileage Plan Dining, Safeway, and
more than 30 hotel and car rental partners worldwide. Alaska
Airlines and Horizon Air together serve 94 cities through an
expansive network in Alaska, the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and
Mexico. For reservations, visit http://alaskaair.com/. For more
