STOCKHOLM--Sweden's Sandvik AB (SAND.SK) said Monday it has appointed Lars Engstrom President of Sandvik Mining, effective 15 December.

He was previously Chief Executive of Munters AB and has held several positions within Atlas Copco AB (ATCO-A.SK).

"I have come to the conclusion that a new leadership is needed to develop Sandvik Mining going forward," said Sandvik Chief Executive Bjorn Rosengren. "I am convinced that Lars Engstrom, whom I know well from Atlas Copco, has the experience and the leadership qualities required for this."

Curent Sandvik Mining President Scot Smith will leave Sandvik.
