Roger Ailes has signed a new four-year contract to stay on as
chairman and chief executive of News Corp.'s (NWS, NWSA) Fox News,
and as chairman of Fox Television Stations.
He will also continue in his role as senior adviser to News
Corp. Chairman and Chief Executive Rupert Murdoch on TV and news
matters.
News Corp. also owns Dow Jones & Co., publisher of this
newswire.
Mr. Ailes launched Fox News Channel in October 1996, driving its
rise as one of the top U.S. cable networks.
News Corp. earlier this year announced plans to separate its
publishing business from its faster-growing film and television
divisions in a move that will split some of the world's biggest
media brands into two distinct companies.
The company's Class A shares fell 2.5% in recent trading to
$24.79, amid a broader market selloff. The stock is up 39% so far
this year.
