--Oil major BP has short-listed three candidates to become its next chief executive officer, including Interim CEO Murray Auchincloss, Reuters reports citing unnamed sources.

--Reuters reports that in addition to Auchincloss, Executive Vice President for trading and shipping Carol Howle and EVP customers & products Emma Delaney are potential candidates for the top job.

--A decision is expected during the first quarter of next year, according to Reuters.

--BP didn't immediately respond when contacted for comment by Dow Jones Newswires.
