PRESS RELEASE

CLARKSONS LAUNCHES CHANNEL FREIGHT FERRIES

Clarkson PLC ("Clarksons") has previously referred to the anticipated expansion
of its logistics business. It is now in a position to confirm its involvement
in the formation of the newly launched Channel Freight Ferries. This wholly
owned subsidiary of Clarksons will provide a regular and efficient service of
sailings between Southampton in the UK and Radicatel (part of the Port of Rouen
complex). The service is due to commence in January 2004.

Channel Freight Ferries will offer customers a distance saving, efficient and
innovative way to ship unaccompanied trailers, containers and specialist loads
on a freight dedicated central corridor with fast direct booking. This will
provide a significant cost saving alternative to sending accompanied freight
through other Channel ports. The locations of the terminals have been
strategically chosen to shorten the time taken by the more traditional routes
such as Dover to Calais.

Clarksons believes that this project will deliver "added value" to both its
freight customers and shareholders.
