                      Placing and Offer for Subscription


The Directors of the Fleming Claverhouse Investment Trust plc today announce
that pursuant to the Placing and Offer for Subscription of new ordinary
shares, detailed in the Issue Note published on 8th December 2000, the Company
has allotted a total of 10,578,681 new ordinary shares. Dealings in the new
ordinary shares, which rank for the Company's fourth quarterly dividend
expected to be paid on 1st March 2001, commence today.



There are now 81,188,026 ordinary shares in issue.
