                    Press Announcement for immediate release


Simons & Co. Limited ("the Company") announces that application has today been
made to the UK Listing Authority for 14,000 new 7.5% Cumulative Preference
shares of #1 each ("the new shares") to be admitted to the Official List and to
the London Stock Exchange for the new shares to be admitted to trading. It is
expected that dealings in the new shares will commence tomorrow, 11th.
September, 2002.


The new shares have been issued as part consideration by the Company of 100,000
ordinary shares in Wellington Market Company plc at a price of 80p per share .
The balance of the purchase consideration has been satisfied by way of an
unsecured interest free Loan Note repayable on not less than 370 days' notice to
expire no later than 31st. December, 2006.


Following the issue of the new shares, the Company has 164,000 7.5.% Cumulative
Preference shares of #1 each in issue.
