                    APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR

The Board of Deutschland Investment Corporation Inc. announces that Mr A M
Vinton has been appointed a non-executive Director of the Company with effect
from 31st October 1997.

Mr Vinton is Chairman of Electra Fleming.  He joined J P Morgan in 1962 leaving
in 1988 to be appointed Chief Operating Officer of N M Rothschild & Sons
Limited.  Between 1992 and 1994, he was the Chief Executive of Enterprises
Quilmes.
