COMMUNICATION OF RELEVANT EVENT

El BBVA has gone further in its policy of integration and brand unit.  The
Boards of Directors of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya, of Argentaria, of Banca Catalana
and of Banco de Alicante have approved the merger projects of these two latest
companies with BBVA.
