The Company has today been informed that Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited sold
1,700,000 ordinary shares (representing 1.69% of issued class of capital) on 4
July 2000 on behalf of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc.

Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc now holds 4,300,000 ordinary shares
(representing 4.28% of issued class of capital).

The total number of income shares managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited
and its associated companies remains 10,050,000 ordinary shares of the
Company, representing 10.01% of issued class of capital.
