The Board of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC has today (19 February 2002),
in accordance with the Placing and Open Offer document dated 19 December
2001), declared an eleventh monthly dividend in respect of the year ending 28
February 2002 of 1.2p (net) per Ordinary share.

The eleventh monthly dividend will have a record date of 1 March 2002 and will
be paid on 19 March 2002 to Ordinary shareholders on the register at the
record date (with a provisional ex-dividend date of 27 February 2002).
