ARCH Investment in Buchang Pharmaceutical Group

ARC Capital Holdings Limited ("ARCH" or the "Company") (AIM: ARCH) is pleased to announce that it has invested US$13 million in cash for a minority interest in Buchang Pharmaceutical Group ("Buchang").

Founded in 1993, and headquartered in Shandong Province, Buchang is a leading non-SOE (state owned enterprise) pharmaceutical company in China and the largest Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) company by net profit in 2009. Buchang is mainly engaged in the R&D, production and sales of TCM in cardiovascular disease, holding the largest number of TCM patents, a large product portfolio, leading market share, the largest number of sales staff and a formidable sales network amongst all the pharmaceutical companies in China.

TCM is one of the fastest growing industries in China, accounting for approximately 25% of China's pharmaceutical industry with CAGR of approximately 20%. ARCH believes that China's pharmaceutical market is poised for significant growth given the low expenditure as a percentage of GDP compared to other countries, China's largely ageing population and rising disposable income, favourable government policies and broadening insurance coverage promoted by regulators, and a rapidly growing number of hospitals and pharmacies supported by government spending.
