            Birkby plc and Mentmore Abbey plc


The Boards of Birkby plc ("Birkby") and Mentmore Abbey
Plc ("Mentmore") note the recent press speculation
linking Birkby and Mentmore Abbey.  Preliminary merger
discussions are taking place.  This merger would create a
major space management group with significant growth
prospects both in the UK and Europe.

A further announcement will be made in due course.
