              TIMING OF ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS


The announcement of Birkby's results for the year ended 31
March 1999 and Mentmore Abbey's results for the year ended
30 April 1999 is currently expected to be made in the second
half of July, at the same time as providing further details
of the proposed merger between Birkby and Mentmore Abbey.
