                           Resignation of Director


The Board of Capital Bars plc ("Capital Bars" or the "Company") announces that
Roger Beaumont has resigned as a director of the Company to pursue his other
business interests. Mr Beaumont's resignation takes effect immediately.


Mr Beaumont remains interested in 1,851,387 ordinary shares in Capital Bars
representing approximately 5.5 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital
and Mr Beaumont has expressed his intention to retain this holding in the
Company for the foreseeable future. In addition to his ordinary shares, Mr
Beaumont is interested in 800,000 options under the Company's Long Term
Incentive Plan, 400,000 of which are exercisable immediately, with the
remaining 400,000 being exercisable over the next 12 months in certain limited
circumstances, such as a general offer being made for the entire issued share
capital of the Company.


Commenting on his resignation, Mr Beaumont said:


"Since I joined the Board in 1996 the Company has seen a number of changes,
including the disposal of all non core businesses and the loss making UK bar/
restaurant division. The business is now in excellent shape to take advantage
of the opportunities in the Dublin market and I wish the management team well
for the future."
