                               Capital Bars plc

                             Issue of New Shares


The Board of Capital Bars plc ("Capital Bars" or the "Company") announces that
it has allotted 23,500,000 ordinary shares in the Company in accordance with
the listing particulars issued by the Company on 3 September 1999. The shares
have been issued to the vendors of certain bar, restaurant and hotel interests
in Dublin acquired by Capital Bars in September 1999 following the
satisfaction of all outstanding conditions contained in the sale and purchase
agreements.

The new ordinary shares will rank pari passu with existing shares and dealings
are expected to become effective on 1 October 2001.
