ClearSpeed secures licensing agreement with US defence industry supplier


Bristol, UK - 6 August 2007, ClearSpeed Technology plc (AIM: CSD), the leader in
acceleration for high performance computing applications, has signed a licensing
contract with one of the US's largest defence industry organisations.
ClearSpeed's technology will be used in satellites and high altitude systems.


The agreement encompassed a one-off license payment plus services for up to 18
months which are expected to realise in total over $1.5m in revenue.  The
Company will also receive royalties on the use of its technology in due course.


This is an important development for ClearSpeed as it not only provides other
types of revenue stream that are complimentary to its principle business, but
more significantly takes the Company into new markets. At the time of its
flotation the Company anticipated that while it focused its core product
development on the emerging high performance computing (HPC) acceleration
market, the feature set that it was developing would also apply to additional
markets.


ClearSpeed's technology was selected as it met the stringent criteria for
performance, energy efficiency, ease of programming, accuracy and reliability
needed within the harsh environments of space.  This combination of features,
including fault tolerance, has been developed by ClearSpeed in order to meet the
intense demands of computer acceleration in HPC.


Tom Beese, ClearSpeed Chief Executive, said:

simultaneously into completely different markets ClearSpeed's unique combination

important development for us on the day when we are also releasing our latest
acceleration boards for HPC.


"Licensing is highly complimentary for us because it directly leverages our core
development.  It enables us to partner in markets where our technology is highly
relevant, but, as in satellites, there are special operational needs that
require additional features that are not relevant to our commercial products in
our main market."
