ELECTRIC & GENERAL INVESTMENT TRUST PLC (the "Company") 
 
The Company was notified that Mr Gary Dowsett, a member of the management team 
employed by the Company's Investment Manager, Taube Hodson Stonex Partners LLP 
("THS"), purchased 1,500 ordinary 5p shares in the capital of the Company on 7 
July 2010 at a price of 323.75 pence per ordinary share, representing 0.002% of 
the Company's issued share capital.  This is Mr Dowsett's first purchase of the 
Company's shares. 
This disclosure is being made in compliance with the Company's policy for full 
disclosure of all changes to holdings by the individuals responsible for 
managing the Company's investments at THS.
