Dow Jones News
Logistics company Stobart Group Ltd. (STOB.LN) Wednesday said
its subsidiary Eddie Stobart has gained a distribution contract
with U.K. supermarket giant Tesco PLC (TSCO.LN) worth around GBP25
million a year.
The contract for Tesco's new import centre at Teesport,
Middlesbrough, involves transporting the supermarket's non-food
products and will be operational in August.
The goods will arrive by sea and rail into Tesco's import centre
for onward distribution by Eddie Stobart to regional distribution
centres and stores throughout the U.K.
Chief Executive Andrew Tinker said the contract is aligned to
Stobart's multimodal strategy and gives it the opportunity to
"increase movements from road to rail."
