Proposed merger of Desire Petroleum plc and Gaelic Resources plc

Further to the announcement made on 17 June 1999 concerning the proposed
merger of Desire Petroleum plc ('Desire') and Gaelic Resources plc ('Gaelic'),
the Board of Desire announces that any such merger would be effected by a
share offer by Desire for Gaelic.  Discussions between the two companies are
continuing and a further announcement will be made as soon as these are either
concluded or terminated.
