Winter crop audit shows minimal damage

Landkom International PLC (AIM: LKI, "Landkom" or "the Group""), the Ukrainian producer of agricultural commodities, has published the results of its winter crop audit, carried out by its independent agronomy adviser.

The survey showed that despite the severe weather conditions during the 2010/2011 winter, Landkom's crops remained largely unaffected. Only 2.14%, or 615 ha, of the 28,856 hectares (ha) planted during the autumn of 2010 were lost. None of the 13,149 ha of winter wheat planted was lost. 464 ha (3.16%) of the 12,862 ha of rape planted and 151 ha of the 2,845 ha of other crops planted were lost.

The majority of the crops are in very good or good condition, with the remainder in average condition. The national statistics for winter crop losses across Ukraine have not yet been published.

Vitaliy Skotsyk, Landkom Chief Executive, commented:

"Despite the long hard winter, our crops have come through in good condition. This gives us considerable confidence in delivering our expected hectarage for harvest this summer, with good potential tonnage - particularly at a time when prices are buoyant."
